I've never gotten into scrapbooking...maybe it's been a rebellion thing, because it's such a craze. Maybe it's because I tried it and was totally overwhelmed and in an instant bad mood. The weird thing is, I love crafts and photography. So I've always been surprised I haven't become a "scraper".
I must say Martha Stewart's line here and in Michael's just about does it for me! I've seen a few of her scrapbooking shows and loved how you can make books that are sophisticated and elegant as opposed to homemade and tacky. It would be amazing to have one for each child...
The dilemma: how would I ever catch up with the past 7 1/2 years of marriage and children? How would I find the time when there is so much else I need to do?

good questions, that is why i dont do it. well, that and the fact that i lack any creative talent. but i love looking at the stuff!
I could come up with the creativity, but I never seem to have the time anymore. Or maybe, since I can usually only handle 1 hobby at a time, it doesn't make first priority. :) So here's MY dilemma, I scrapbooked a baby book for Ethan, so now what do I do for Simon or subsequent children???
I plan on just scraping the first year of each of my kids lives. That way I won't have to keep doing it for all of them. I don't know if it will work b/c obviously I am on my first kid...but that is the plan.
I think if you do it for one of them you should do it for all of them. But, unfortunately most first children do end up getting more done!
I also love MS's new line at Michaels I was just looking at it the other day. It is a bit pricey though, at least I thought so.
I hear you! I love looking at a beautiful scrapbook, but the time and $$$ involved turns me away. All our pictures are in a plastic container or the computer. *sigh*
I'm thinking if I did it I would keep them extremely SIMPLE. Like pick ONE color scheme for the entire album and maybe a theme...like the meaning of their name. For ex. Chloe's name means "blooming joy" So it could be a happy flower book.
I agree MS's line is pricey.
Rachel, that's my prob, too. There are so many hobbies I would like to do and our current roles allow for maybe one (of course I wouldn't trade motherhood for any hobby!).
I used to love to scrapbook, but have found a way to do it online at photoworks.com and it looks like a really nice, professionally bound book when you are done. I haven't actually completed one, but so far it looks really great!
Also, on the MS line at Michaels... if you get the Sunday paper Michaels usually has an ad with a 40% coupon. If you have enough patience and can stand buying just one item a week, 40% off can make a big difference!
Just FYI--you CAN'T use that 40% off coupon in the paper for MS products. I already looked into it! It will say at the bottom of the coupon that the discount won't apply to her products, I guess that was her "deal" with Michaels...she didn't want her stuff on sale.
Bummer.
Yes, I tried, too Ruth. So it will never go on sale unless she discontinues an item? Ugg.
