Churches were built by demographic studies, professional strategists, marketing research, meeting “felt needs” and sermons consistent with these techniques.
Especially the "felt needs" part. Rex is always reminding me that my feelings are not authoritative. We can never be enough if we are running around trying to cater to all of those things. Such a good reminder to always have our eyes fixed on Him!
I read that article a week or two ago, and it's interesting b/c I've been hearing a lot about seeker-oriented Christianity these days. I guess we really need to be aware of what is going on.
It is so easy forget the primary purpose of the church - to bring glory to God - and think of it as an outreach instead.
Why do I blog? To intentionally be reminded of God's daily goodness, to preserve memories, to share with loved ones, to create something that lasts longer than a clean toilet.
