We're starting that tomorrow! Now that Ethan's 3, Dave is laying down the law! Not really, but we're definitely giving it a try. :) I am not pushy when it comes to that kind of thing, but think of all the diaper money we'll save!

oh goodness, I hope that goes well for ya!!! :) My son STILL doesn't poop in the potty!!

Right now we pay $60 a month on diapers.

When we had all 3 in diapers that would've been $90, ekkkk.

I can't wait till that expense out of here!

I love the drawings of the potties :) Did the kids draw those?

How is it going? Ethan did pretty decent today, so I think I'm going to stick with it. We spend about $20-$30 a month on diapers for E, and obviously more with Simon being quite a bit younger. I am so ready to be down to 1 kid in diapers!

Rachel, if you're still reading this.

Cade is doing awsome, he just has trouble when we go somewhere (and I forget to take him to the potty). He hasn't had one accident at home!

Chloe is not doing so hot. She may not be "ready". She's doing a lot of a little in her panties and a little in the potty.

Funny it's the boy who's catching on faster...I've always been warned that boys are harder.

Lynn, I drew the pics for them to put a sticker on each time the go. =)

I have my mom to thank for training our twins! I really don't think Josh will be ready when the baby comes...he'll just be turning 2. So back to two in diapers. Glad it's not 3 anymore!

I love the progression of pictures. :)

Rachel, I'm no potty training expert, and frankly I never want to be!

The poopy thing (are we really talking about this =)?) I don't know, that's the thing the twins did first. Caden more, but he'd tell me, so I'd rush him to the pot. If you can tell he's about to, just put him on and give him a book to read to relax. If he goes, make a HUGE deal about it. Let him call daddy at work to tell him, Give him a big treat, etc. It'll get him excited to do it again.

There is a lot to be said about the child being ready. (I'm wondering if I should wait a month and try again with Chloe). So don't stress out too much.

Well, here's an update for ya. :) In case you're dying to know...ha, ha! Last night when I was grocery shopping I bought some Hot Wheels cars and put them on the kitchen table. When Ethan woke up I told him that he could have a car if he pooped in the potty today...and he did! But yes, I kinda caught him getting "that look" and rushed him to the toilet, but he did it and he was so excited! And he's had no accidents today, so I am pretty pumped! I agree with the whole being ready thing...I tried 6 months ago with Ethan, and he cried every time I tried to make him sit on the potty. Definitely a different story now.

Cars WOULD be a great motivator!

I'm struggling with accidents when we're not at home. They think pullups are diapers I guess, but I'm not sure I want to deal with accidents in panties. Any suggestions?

I found that joel wasn't even ready to pee until he could stand up! He turned 3 and realized he was tall enough to stand and now he rarely has a pee accident, although he sometimes does have a poop accident.

I seriously think this will improve after his surgery, he's always feeling so cruddy. And maybe now that we fixed things I hope he is more willing to relax and just POOP on that potty!!

And Michele (who isn't even 2) poops on the potty! But she isn't potty trained, she just tells me she wants to go and she poops! I think she might tran herself :)

Jenica, it is so interesting to me to hear other people's experiences with this...the whole idea of potty training seemed so elusive to me, as if I'd never be able to accomplish that milestone of motherhood, and now 4 days later, it seems like we're in the clear. And I honestly don't know how it happened. Ethan still has a little trouble getting to the potty when he's going to poop sometimes, but he's really trying and usually can get there.

Something Shawna told me this week seems to be helping...she said that someone told Rex when they were potty training Merikate to keep them in underwear all the time once you start, even at night, because if you don't, they will learn to have accidents when they have a pull-up on. Now this seemed so impossible to me when I heard it, especially the night part, but we have been getting Ethan up to go to the bathroom right before we go to bed...and last night he didn't have an accident in bed for the first time. My plan is to stop getting him up next week, and see if his bladder is ready for all night long.

The other thing that has seemed to help was staying home for 3 solid days and keeping him with me constantly, watching him like a hawk. I did absolutely nothing else except play with him and talk to him about going. And I set the microwave timer for every 30 minutes. On Tuesday it felt like I wasn't accomplishing anything, but by Wednesday he had it down. I don't know if this would work for every kid, but the undivided attention to it really seemed to help Ethan focus. We literally stayed in the kitchen all day every day. :)

Well, I hope it goes well, Jenica. If not, you can always wait and try again later...I'm with you. It's not worth being stressed over! They will eventually get it!
